Everything at Rendezvous was groomed except Windy Ridge. Rock skis are recommended for classic. B skis are recommended for skate. This is what you came for! Enjoy!

Two to three inches of new overnight snow, more up high. Groomed from the upper parking lot up to Black Bear Cutoff and back to upper Whiskey. Skate and classic. Groomed whiskey , no classic. Whiskey is much improved, all of the bare patches are covered, and much smoother. Grooming on the Plateau November 1979, no skate at all!
Just a little touch up!
Groomed skate lanes from the upper parking to the Black Bear Cutoff and back. Groomed from the upper parking area to Black Bear Cutoff and back, skate and classic.
Groomed behind the narrow gate for clinics this evening. Narrow skate and one classic. Touched up the icy hard section from mile post 7 to the upper Whiskey Trail gate, new classic in most of it. Chance of new snow late tomorrow afternoon.
South PlateauFrom milepost 7 to the Black Bear Cutoff, about 12 km out, Very good classic and skate beyond Whiskey Trail gate. Whiskey trail from the top; the first 4 km are okay, with no bare patches and decent corduroy, but no classic. The middle few kilometers are poor, with many bare patches. Keep thinking snow!
The trail conditions in town deteriorated last week. There is still an icy base in some areas on the interior of the trail system. If no new snow comes we plan on holding the Yellowstone Ski Festival events on the South Plateau Snowmobile Trail which is at a higher elevation. These trails currently have a good base and we will groom and have 10-15 km of trail ready for skiing Saturday morning. Road preparations, traffic plan, and shuttle options are in progress. Conditions can change very quickly for the better and with snow likely starting on Sunday evening we are hopeful to be in town for the official start of the event on Tuesday. All indoor and off- snow events will occur as scheduled!
October 22: Deja, the Biathlon Range and Sprint Loops were rolled with a snowmobile.
November 1: Deja, the Biatlon Range, Sprint loops and Rendezvous were rolled again and had 1 inch of dry snow. No classic, some very thin spots, but skiable with "rock skis" at this time. On Friday the US Forest Service also groomed Whisky Trail on South Plateau. Classic tracks and a small area for skating. Be aware that this is still an open road until Dec 1. |
