No new snow, cloudy 16 F. Put a slow grind on Rendezvous, Dead Dog and the Homologated 5 KM race loop. Fast and firm, still thin in places. Snow is forecast for this evening, sacrifices to the snow gods can't hurt.
Some new snow, 23 F and partly cloudy. Everything but Windy Ridge is groomed this morning. No classic yet except in a few places to see if any dirt would show in the track. Stadium still has some gray ice, but overall skiing should be much friendlier and very fast skate skiing. Tele hill even has a classic lane, thin, on the uphill side.
About one inch of very wet snow yesterday, clear and cold this morning, 10 F. Very little to work with from Washburn in to town, snow is better with just a small elevation gain. Attempted to add classic on Dead Dog but not worth the effort. Trails groomed: Out the in and out to the stadium, down Drewski to Washburn, onto Rendezvous, around Rendezvous and Dead Dog, out Jerry's to the Doodle, turned around back on Jerry's to Volunteer to the in and out. Fencing is still up in the stadium and on Deja View and frozen into the snow surface. This prevented grooming Deja, The Doodle, both Sprint loops and Sheppard's. Skate looks decent in a lot of places, especially out around Dead Dog.
Rain at 2 AM, heavy rain at $ am. No new snow. Forecast is to switch to snow around mid morning with a drop in temperatures. Will start shaving ice when the rain stops or groom snow if the fresh snow forecast arrives.
Heavy, wet snow fell from about 8am to 10am, leaving about 1” new snow. No new snow, 22 F. Snomobile groomed Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Volunteer, Jerry's, the Doodle, Sheppard's, and Deja View. Skate only, very fast, watch for thin spots and ski with care on downhills.
REMINDER: the Race Course, including most of Deja View, remains CLOSED. Partly cloudy 27 F. No new snow. Rendezvous is thin and very hard. All the skate surfaces were groomed with a snowmobile this evening, including the 5 KM race loop. Much smoother than yesterday as the cooler weather firms up the slushy areas. Plenty of dirt spots and some ice.
South Plateau Road: Groomed the South Plateau with the Pisten Bully and tiller. No real grooming for the first two miles as too much has melted. From the South East corner of Dead Dog the snow is much better, and up high pretty good. The easiest way to access the road is ski out Jerry's to Dead Dog, then around Dead Dog to the base of the plateau. It is a short ski to the road and good skiing on up for almost another 7 miles. Some classic up high, but to hard and thin lower down. Overcast and 33 F. No new snow, rain at 2 AM then clearing and temperatures dropped to close to freezing. The old wet snow and slush is starting to glaze and freeze this morning. Groomed skate surfaces only this morning with several passes on Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Deja View, Volunteer, Jerry's, and the Doodle. The 5 KM race loop received multiple passes, skate only.
Cloudy and warm, 37-39 F. Groomed the South Plateau road this morning. 14 KM up to the top, very good but wet snow up high. Single classic from about 3 KM out up to the top. The first three K's are quite thin, wet with a few puddles. Above 5 KM's the skiing looks quite good. Ski with caution as this will be two way traffic, and leave room on the up/down hill sections for people to safely pass in the opposite direction.
No new snow, some rain last night, cloudy and 38 F. Trails groomed, Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Biathlon Range, Sprint loops, Deja View, Drewski, Jerry's, the Doodle, Biathlon, Green and Blue. Some dirt now showing in many more places, most of the pack is still solid and should ski well.
2 plus inches of new snow, cloudy and 29 F. Everything but Windy is groomed, single classic and skate surface. Trails are very clean now, good skis should be fine on 99% of the trail. Some care on the inside of corners under large trees. A bit slower with the new snow. Added the South Plateau and the Whiskey Springs roads for teaching areas. Riverside groomed, including Barnes Hole Rd in from the West Entrance Rd. Boundary up next.
No new snow, 23 F and partly cloudy. Most of the trails were groomed last might, single track and skate surface, fast fine grained snow. Some dirt starting to show under trees on the edges and some from gopher mounds pushed up late in the fall. Overall very good conditions for November.
A Note From the Groomer about why the trails aren’t as good as they could be this morning To the very special folks who skied last night: You must be special, and very selfish. The classic skiers who get to ski in the tracks you skated across while they were soft will really appreciate your efforts. The Biathletes who wanted to train on fresh groomed will be very happy with the ruts you put in the stadium. Because you were out there last night, none of the short connectors were groomed last night, I cannot safely back up in the dark with skiers present. Your narcissistic behavior shows no respect for what I am trying to do in the middle of the night and no respect for your fellow skiers. If this was a major event or World Cup your credentials would be pulled and you would be sent home. THERE IS NO NIGHT SKIING ALLOWED. No new snow, 16 F and partly cloudy. Everything but Windy is groomed this morning. Single classic and skate surface. The trails continue to improve, the rain soaked snow pack is now frozen solid and the top surface is now like good man made snow, fine grained and very fast, with a good edge. Very little dirt and good solid classic in most places.
No new snow but much colder temperatures. Currently 19 F and cloudy skies. Everything but Windy Ridge is groomed this morning. Machine groomed granular, single classic and skate surface. Skiing should be much better this morning, very fast, and almost no dirt or debris except for a few dirt spots from our friendly gophers.
Light snow falling, 30 F.
Much to wet under the pack to groom effectively. After one k too many wet spots showing. The base is still at least four inches, so once things freeze should be able to clean things up nicely. Out to Washburn and back. Appears not many people skied during yesterdays rain event. Three inches of new snow, more up higher on the trails. 32 F and mixed rain and snow, heavy at times. Trails groomed: Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Deja View, Biathlon Range, Jerry's and the Doodle. Skate and classic.
No new snow, 18 F, and partly cloudy. After three decent storms in the last week the coverage and base is now good enough to set classic tracks. Trails are 14 plus feet wide, skate and classic, good skis with care.
Trails groomed: Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Biathlon Range, Long Sprint Loop, Sheppard's and Tele Hill, Deja View, Drewski, Spencer's, Jerry's, the Doodle, and .22 short. Three to four inches of new snow, 28 F and clearing skies. Trails groomed: Rendezvous, Dead Dog, Biathlon Range and penalty loop, 1.5 Sprint, Deja View, the Doodle, Jerry's and the Kid's loop. No classic this morning, should be possible next time. Very good base, good skis with care.
Nine inches of new, 22F and partly cloudy. Started to groom and pack Rendezvous this morning. Trails groomed: Rendezvous, Deja View, Biathlon Range, Biathlon Orange Red, and Blue. Jerry's, the Doodle and Drewski. Early season soft conditions, 12 feet wide, B skis advised.
