Here’s an update about the conditions of the Rendezvous Ski Trails, happenings on the South Plateau, and the plan of action for the races:
- South Plateau – currently the conditions on the South Plateau venue are less than ideal. The snow pack has deteriorated from 10+” of snow to less than 6”. The ground is not frozen up there and the snow is continuing to melt away. Large, difficult to remove rocks are protruding through the snow pack even before compaction. Given these elements, moving to the South Plateau is not a viable option.
- Rendezvous Ski Trails –
- As of 1pm, the race course trails, including all of Deja View, will be closed to preserve the snow. PLEASE, for the consideration of all, DO NOT ski on the closed trails.
- Biathlon races will proceed as scheduled, but with modified courses
- Tele Hill has been removed from all race courses.
- USSA race course preview will occur on Friday morning prior to the race
- Snow farming will begin immediately to help maintain the snow.
- Groups of shovelers will be meeting immediately following the Biathlon Race on Wednesday and at 11am on Thursday at the Iris Street Gate. Shovels will be provided if anyone can come out and help.
Thank you for understanding that we are doing our best to make sure people are able to ski and ski safely. Please remember this is early season and ski with the utmost caution.
