Range Rules & Schedule
Sprint Race

Format:  This event will be organized following standard IBU & USBA rules for the Sprint Race. The Start will be individual at 30 sec intervals.

Distance:
U15 M/W  4.5km
U17 M/W, Youth Women  6km
Youth Men, Junior Women, Women, Masters M/W  7.5km
Junior Men, Men  10km
Due to newly developed trails, maps will be posted at the stadium area.

Awards Schedule:  Awards to the top 3 finishers in each class.  All awards will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony at the Biathlon Range following the completion of the Novice race (Approximately 12:30 PM).  ​

Novice Race

This event is open to all interested skiers.  No previous biathlon or shooting experience is necessary.

All new biathletes are required to participate in the "Try Biathlon" clinic at the range on Tuesday Nov. 26 from 10:30 am to noon.   All Novice racers are welcome but you are not required to attend the clinic if you attended it in 2018.

Novice Race is also for any experienced biathletes with their own rifles, but who do not plan to carry their rifles.

Distance:  4.5km for all categories. Due to newly developed trails, maps will be posted at the stadium area.

Awards Schedule:  Awards to the top 3 Men and Women in the following categories.
​U14, 14-34, 35+.  All awards will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony at the Biathlon Range following the completion of the race.

“Try It” Biathlon Demonstration.  All novice biathletes must attend in order to participate in Wednesday’s race.  Pre-registration is required.  (Rendezvous Ski Trails Biathlon Range)
Note that all Novices are encouraged to attend but if you attended the clinic in 2018 you may register for Wednesday's Novice Race without attending this year's clinic

    ALL racers participating in this race MUST hold either an active US Ski & Snowboard license or an active FIS license. All licenses must be active and submitted no later than 3 p.m. Friday, November 29. Any athlete who is inactive after 3 p.m. will not receive a race bib.


Awards: Plaques will be awarded to the top three over all Male (in the 10K race) and Female athletes and the top three athletes in the various age groups. All plaques and prize money will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 7:00pm at the Holiday Inn. All athletes must be present to receive their awards.

  • Scoring:  This race is intended to be a low-key race to start out the season.  No scoring will occur.
  • Awards:  Medals will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers in each USSA-designated (U8-U20) group.  All awards will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 30 at 7:00PM at the Holiday Inn.

The Juniors Race is the brainchild of timing contractor, Ernie Page.  He noticed the Yellowstone Ski Festival was the perfect venue for an early race for Juniors.  The Junior's Race is intended to follow the FIS race allowing Junior racers a chance to ski on a tough course and pick up valuable race experience.  This event is low-keyed and open to age classes U20 and younger. ​
Awards: Plaques will be awarded to the top three over all Male (in the 10K race) and Female athletes and the top three athletes in the various age groups. All plaques and prize money will be handed out at the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at 7:00pm at the Holiday Inn. All athletes must be present to receive their awards.
