Melissa Alder was born and raised in Montana. She developed a love for the outdoors as a child while camping and fishing with her parents. While attending college in Missoula, she developed her passion for biking and cross country skiing. After getting a job at Open Road Bicycles she began mountain bike racing and learned how to be a bike mechanic and Nordic ski specialist. She moved to West Yellowstone in 1996 and opened Freeheel & Wheel with her best friend Kelli Hart.
Melissa has been the Chair of the Cross Country Ski Committee and Bicycle Committee under the West Yellowstone Chamber of Commerce Board for over 25 years. These committees help to manage, maintain, and develop trails in the area. The committees also help host and market events in the Yellowstone area. In her free time you will find Melissa enjoying a variety of quiet sports outdoors. She loves traveling to Northern California and Oregon to bike in the big trees with her husband. She also loves sharing adventures with friends all over the world. Melissa loves to share her passions with local residents and area visitors of all ages. She believes these lifetime sports will bring joy to anyone who chooses to try them. |
